FILM STRIP: Comic Con..Topher's Debut

Comic Con and it's 5,000 fans just previewed Spiderman 3 and the big hit of the event was the new villain Venom, played by Topher Grace.

I would say Grace is successfully jump starting his film career after the series finale of "That's 70 show," better than anyone from "Friends." He'll soon start shooting Coxblocker, written by the writer and director of Employee of the Month, Greg Coolidge, about a guy who keeps getting cock blocked by his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend, Sean William Scott, prick extraordinaire. [On a side note, Coolidge has also written Ride Along, starring Ryan Reynolds as an anger management therapist and the Rock as his patient. What will surely be hilarious.] Having already dipped into romantic comedy (Win a Date with Tad Hamilton) and dabbled in action (Spiderman 3), after flexing his funny bone (Coxblocker), Grace will begin filming the drama The Crusaders alongside the revered Terrence Howard (Hustle & Flow). [Unsurprisingly, Howard has 7 films to be released before he even begins this one.] Grace will play a lawyer "who becomes the only white member of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund and works side by side with future Supreme Court justice Thurgood Marshall to outlaw segregation." Maybe it won't guarantee him an Oscar, but his name will definitely be on the tip of their tongue.

The star of Spiderman, Tobey Maguire will certainly be attempting a go at beloved Oscar with his follow up film, Quiet-Type, where he plays a mute who wants to conduct an orchestra. Can you hear the violins playing?
