FASHION: Golden Globes 2007

Gracing the Golden Globes 2007 red carpet were many female stars dressed in white, the trend of the night. But not a very flattering one. Here are my picks for Best and Worst Dressed.

WORST Dressed

A lot of blogs have compared Cameron Diaz's ensemble to that of Bjork's previous monstrosities. I don't know if it's the tutu ruffles or the one-arm strap or the fact that she shouldn't look like a swan, but this looks ridiculous.

Jessica Biel usually looks hot, as noticed by every male magazine in America from the sleazy ones like Maxim to the respected ones like Esquire. Lately, however, she's taken to not show off her bum so much (and overshadow J.Lo's), but to dress as though her curves are non-existent. That isn't the problem with this dress. It's the fact that she looks like a disco ball that makes her look wildly unattractive.

Emily Blunt, the thorn in Anne Hathaway's side in Devil Wears Prada, has truly impressed Hollywood (as did every other British actor who won last night). But that doesn't make up for this confusing creation. It looks like there are curtain drapes underneath her mini. Maybe it'd look better in a different color.

Always superbly dressed on "Ugly Betty," Becki Newton suprisingly underwhelmed in this bland, hunter green gown meant for a bridesmaid.

Evangeline Lily from "Lost" chose a geometrically challenged dress that would probably look better if it were comprised of two shades of the same color, instead of purplish pink and yellowish gold.

I have to admit Jennifer Love Hewitt's gown did look much better on camera, but as a still image, the reflective lower half just looks tacky.

Naomi Watts always looks beautiful, but this just isn't her color or shape or anything.

BEST dressed

Best Design

Aside from Sienna Miller's humidity-affected hairstyle--and the fact that it seemed weird that she was there in the first place--her dress was the most beautiful design of all the ones to hit the carpet, adding something special to the all-white trend.

Most Daring
Ali Larter had the lowest neckline that I saw on the carpet, and managed to pull it off without seeming slutty--which is difficult for an actress who always gets hired to play the hot girl. This was also a more interesting cut than all of the strapless, all-white gowns that littered the red carpet.

Best Accessories

Although, Salma Hayek's hair-do was uninspired, the Greek-like, all-white ensemble she wore was almost as mesmerizing as the huge accessories that made it pop (as if you didn't notice).

Most Improved

Nicollette Sheridan never really seems to make it on anyone's Best Dressed list for any award show. But with what seems like a cross between a wedding dress and a prom dress, she has improved tremendously.

Best use of Color

Felicity Huffman wasn't the only to wear dark green last night, but she was the one who wore it best in an empire waist, billowing, silk gown.

Best Simplicity

Many of the stars were shooting for simplicity when they chose to wear white, forgetting that black pulls the same trick. Katherine Heigl of "Grey's Anatomy" was simply elegant in this gothic gown ripped from the 40s.
