NEW MOVIES: 4/6

GRINDHOUSE

You've probably heard enough about this Tarantino-Rodriguez film, but in case you've been locked in a basement somewhere or just woke up from a coma or have a really healthy sex life, Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez are reviving the art form of the grind house:
"a movie theater that shows films throughout the day and all or most of the night."
They each filmed their own plots.
"In Tarantino's Death Proof, three Austin ladies out for a night on the town are trailed by Stuntman Mike (Russell), a scarred outsider with one killer car; in Rodriguez's Planet Terror, a dancer (McGowan) and her ex-boyfriend (Rodriguez) are a town's only real hope against an outbreak that turns everyday people into flesh-hungry aggressors."
Hey and if you only want to see one of them, you can come and go whenever you'd like.

THE REAPING

If you want to see some horror minus the kitsch, Hilary Swank will be reminding us why we're all going to hell. With the amazing effects of CGI the 10 biblical plagues come to life. Awww, and just in time for Easter.

TV SET [limited release]

And for all of you film aficionados and indie lovers, there's David Duchovny's movie. Here's the plot:
"After writer Mike Klein (Duchovny) sells his television pilot to a major network, he must opt to protect his creation from the executives who look to "improve" upon his idea, or make the decision to bend to their whims as cameras start to roll."

So if you need to take a break from all the horror and action movies, and find films like I Heart Huckabees, The Royal Tenenbaums, and For Your Consideration hilarious, then grab some pop corn and overload on goobers.

  1. Movies actually look decent this weekend. I'm probably going to be checking out Grind house.
