Unsurprisingly, Saw IV hacked up the box office, scaring up a healthy $32 mil at the #1 spot. And for those who were looking for less blood and more heart, Dan in Real Life did the trick and got it's treat of the #2 spot with a meager $12 mil gross. I have a feeling--with the reviews it received--that it'll be a sleeper hit all the way through Thanksgiving. 30 Days of Night, the 2nd horror choice in theaters, stuck it out in the top 5, slipping to the #3 spot and grossing $27 mil. Gone Baby Gone dropped only one spot to #7 with $11 mil. Rendition left the top 10 with a disappointing $8 mil.
This weekend we've got an interesting mix hitting theaters. In the dramatic thriller corner, we have the long-awaited and Jay-Z-supported American Gangster. In the heart-wrenching drama section, we have the John Cusack tear-jerker Martian Child. And in the animated kid's corner, we have the overly publicized Jerry Seinfield comedy Bee Movie. Lastly, there's the indies: Sidney Lumet's crime thriller Before the Devil Knows You're Dead and Don Cheadle's documentary Darfur Now.
