Who knew striking was contagious? First TV writers shutdown their laptops and put our Tivos on pause, then theater workers dimmed Broadway, and now Viacom workers are "disrupting" TRL with their picket lines and clever signs. My personal faves are the two below:
It seems that Viacom was unaware that if they poached the benefits and health insurance of their "permatemps" (workers that are treated like Cinderella--pulling most of the weight and getting no rewards), they would walk out. Not that I'm initiating anything, but employers of permalancers (permanent freelancers) everywhere should keep a close eye on their slaves for hire, because the strike is going around and it is mighty contagious. God forbid web freelancers should go on strike. Magazine websites would be screwed.
