MUSIC: Lupe + Kanye + Pharrell = CRS

My favorite aspect of the music business is when artists collaborate. It's great when a singer, like Beyonce or Rihanna, becomes famous and nearly legendary because of their solo acts. But when artists who are supposed to be competing with each other set down the calculators, the awards, and the bling to make epic music that's when strides in history are really made. Earlier this year, Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, and Pharrell Williams formed a group called CRS, which stands for Child Rebel Soldier. Each artist is known for their sick rhymes and/or beats, so of course an amalgam of their talents would be Earth shattering. Their first recorded and released single, "Us Players," was played on tape players everywhere in May, when Kanye released his mixtape, Can't Tell Me Nothing. Each rapper lays down his rhymes to the tune of Thom Yorke's single "The Eraser." My favorite part comes from Pharrell's lyrics:

"Young/dumb/high strung/who could handle us/I wonder how Gods gonna paint today’s canvasses/Cause who knew/that day/that man would just/go to VA/with a Tec/and spray campuses/What a way to see the cover of Time/I know that nigga wish he was standing in line/To see it/As if he didn’t do it."

With the underground success of the single, an album is already in the works. Listen to the entire song below:
