Released last year in July, the South Korean monster flick was critically acclaimed and became an overseas box office hit. A sequel was sort of suggested in the last few seconds of the film, when the main character peered into the darkness of the night and thought he saw something. But the 2nd film that's being proposed now is actually a prequel.
It will be about a creek that flows through downtown Seoul, which was covered for 35 years and then restored in 2005. Once the stream is uncovered, several underground monsters will emerge. The action should be as suspenseful and graphically impressive as the first film. It's expected for a mid-2009 release.
