FASHION WEEK: BCBG & Baby Phat
I've flipped through many shows in the last 12hrs and so far the only ones that have popped are BCBG Max Azria and Yigal Azrouel. I'm a super fan of Max's thin, leather, high-waisted belt and delicate silk/lace dresses (left).
Baby Phat failed to impress despite Kimora Lee Simons' attempt to mix ghetto chic with 20s flapper/showgirl.
And even though I wasn't floored by Douglas Hannant's collection, I did love the cut on this bland-colored mini--the way it sits on the hips (left)...as well as a mustard colored sweater from Nicole Miller's line...and a slim-fit bubble coat for men from Nautica. Oh and I loved Rag & Bone's modernized Old English clothing that could fit James Bond if he went back in time to meet Sherlock Holmes or Amelia Earhart.
As for Yigal Azrouel, he's managed to expand the oversized-collar trend and provide an interesting reimagining of the Tartan look (left). I'd definitely wear that...even in that color. I'm feeling yellows this year.
I also managed to peruse Ellie Tahari, Rachel Roy, Vera Wang's Lavender Label, Erin Fetherston, Jason Wu, and Perry Ellis, but like Baby Phat they failed to impress. Today Lacoste showed their collection in the morning and later on, after everyone's lunched and dished, Costello Tagliapietra, Abaete, Alexander Wang, Rock & Republic, Sari Gueron, Sass & Bide, and Ruffian will strut their stuff.
