FILM: New in Theaters - 3/14/08

It's sad when the most exciting release out in theaters this weekend is Horton Hears a Who! For mindless action movie lovers, there's the half-baked Resident Evil-clone Doomsday with Rhona Mitra ("Boston Legal") in the lead. For thriller enthusiasts, there's the cryptic Funny Games that's a violent mind-fuck with Naomi Watts and Michael Pitt (Murder by Numbers). Then there's the teen-oriented illegal boxing film Never Back Down a la Karate Kid with Djimon Honsou, Sean Faris ("Life as we Know It"), and Cam Gigandet ("The O.C."). Then there's the sure-to-be missed indie Sleepwalking about a girl who is abandoned by her mom with Charlize Theron, Nick Stahl ("Carnivale"), and AnnaSophia Robb (Bridge to Terabithia).

I don't usually like animated films, but this one looks hilarious: an elephant trying to protect a speck from being destroyed because there's an entire world on it. If it's a Dr. Seuss tale voiced by Jim Carrey, Steve Carell, Will Arnett, Carol Burnett, Seth Rogen, Dan Fogler, Isla Fisher, Jonah Hill, Amy Poehler, Jaime Pressly, and Jesse McCartney, then there's sure to be slapstick mayhem!!
