Christopher Buckley, who also wrote Thank You for Smoking, is getting his satirical novel Boomsday adapted into a film. For those who haven't read the novel or heard of it yet, it follows a "D.C. lobbyist who casts herself in the center of a firestorm after she half-jokingly blogs a solution to the stress that retiring baby boomers will place on the Social Security system: a voluntary suicide program for the aging." It'll be adapted by Ron Bass, who wrote My Best Friend's Wedding and Entrapment.
