FILM: Timur Bekmambetov's "The Red Star"

Timur Bekmambetov, the mastermind behind Wanted, finally has the collateral to direct his dream project: Christian Gossett's graphic novel The Red Star. Many of the blogs are comparing it to Star Wars and 300, because it fits into the war genre. This war is told from the Russian perspective and includes aspects of technology and sorcery. I see the connections to the aforementioned films, but I hope Bekmambetov doesn't fall under the weight of the pressure that is already building before it even goes into production.

As usual, I'm most interested in who will be cast. Chances are Hollywood will only greenlight it if there's at least one big name attached, especially since his first American hit had three. But hopefully that will give him room to cast a few real Russians too. I say pick a few actors who've played Russian believably before, like Viggo Mortensen.

Any other suggestions?
