Zack & Miri at #2, Secret Gay Character on NBC, & "Heroes" plummeting

Even though High School Musical 3--or as the "cool" kids call it HSM3--bested Kevin Smith's Zack and Miri Make a Porno, it still deserves applause for coming in at #2 on a Halloween weekend right before a major election. A horror movie like Gossip Girl's Chace Crawford flick, The Haunting of Molly Hartley, and Saw V should've been in the top spots, but it seems the nation is more in the mood for laughs, whether from intentional jokes--inspired by Rogen's prowess--or unintentional ones--inspired by Zac Efron's angry dance numbers. For those who saw the movie, you might have noticed the slight lisp that Jason Mewes' character Lester sported. It was actually a real lisp that was a side effect from an ongoing painful dentist surgery that lasted the whole shoot. Poor bastard. And on a side note: Kevin Smith originally offered up-and-comer Elizabeth Banks' role to his Clerks 2 co-star Rosario Dawson, but she passed on the LEAD role in order to shoot Eagle Eye and play a supporting role no one will ever remember her for. Maybe she was just trying to get in Steven Spielberg's eyeline. Look at me Stevie! Look at me!
  • Phillip Seymour Hoffman's indie Synechdote, New York was actually the real box office winner, in my opinion, this weekend, having made the most per theater in its 2nd week.
  • EW's Mark Harris reported that according to GLAAD there are currently 16 gay characters on TV, but "another of the 16 is a character NBC mysteriously declines to identify." Hmm, that's got me thinking. Which NBC character could possibly be secretly gay? Are they talking about The Office's Michael? Cause that's only a secret to him.
  • "NBC fired the two co-executive producers of 'Heroes' yesterday, marking either the biggest staff shakeup or the most bizarre, meta plot twist in the show’s history."--BestWeekEver.tv
