VIDEO: NBC's "The Unusuals" Promo

Amber Tamblyn ("Joan of Arcadia") returns to TV after a 4-year hiatus into film, where she delved into the teen scene with two Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants films, the horror sequel Grudge 2, and a few indies. Now 25, she's putting down roots in an offbeat cop dramedy that centers on the police officers who investigate the other crimes...as in the non-interesting kind, which are referred to as The Unusuals. My guess from the promo is that these cops have done something to deserve being demoted to a precinct where they have to investigate cat deaths and chase down a person dressed in a hot dog suit. For example, Adam Goldberg (Deja Vu) plays a cop who seems a little suicidal. Tamblyn's character, however, has a harder job. Apparently, she's been pulled off vice, which is cop-code for going undercover as a hooker, in order to find the crooked cops within her squad. While mostly everyone is bringing the funny, Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker) acts as the straight-man, tough as nails and possibly as dirty as the sewers of New York. Also starring are Harold Perrineau (Michael on "Lost"), Monique Curnen (the dirty cop in The Dark Knight), and Terry Kinney ("Oz").

So far so good. The police procedural formula needed a shake-up.

ON NBC THIS APRIL!

  1. Now this looks like a cop drama that I can actually watch. I'm glad to know that Amber Tamblyn will be back on TV.
