• There's a rumor that Will Smith has dropped out of McG's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Captain Nemo film. Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson was linked as a replacement until McG denied the rumor. I'm sure once the box office results of Terminator Salvation come in, he won't have a problem nailing down a lead.
• There's a Stomp the Yard sequel in the works. No word on whether Columbus Short and/or Meagan Good will be reprising their roles. My guess is that they're trying to mimic Step Up's success, showcasing fraternity/sorority stepping instead of street dancing. This could be an opportunity to cast younger and create a trilogy. Perhaps they should dip into the casts of the many dance reality shows that are all over the tube.
• Christina Aguilera will make her film debut in the musical Burlesque. She'll play "an ambitious smalltown girl with a big voice who finds love, family and success in a Los Angeles neo-burlesque club." We'll see if she has what it takes to be the next Beyonce, as opposed to bombing like Britney Spears (Crossroads) or Mariah Carey (Glitter).
• Not only is there a spinoff in the works for X-Men Origins: Wolverine that'll star Ryan Reynolds' wisecracking mercenary character Deadpool, but there's already a sequel in the works for Wolverine. It'll focus on his training as a samurai.
• I've always thought Will Ferrell's best acting is when he's knee-deep in paranoia. He's set to star in Neighborhood Watch, a comedy about a guy who moves to the suburbs and discovers a conspiracy. Perfection.
• Ryan Gosling, Anton Yelchin (Charlie Bartlett) and Chris Pine (Star Trek) were rumored to be starring in the Green Lantern comicbook film, but now Bradley Cooper (The Hangover) is a frontrunner. I dunno. Something about that guy has always said sleazeball to me.
