TRAILER: Will Ferrell & Mark Wahlberg's "The Other Guys"

Director: Adam McKay (Anchorman, Talladega Nights, and Step Brothers)

Writers: McKay and Chris Henchy (Land of the Lost)

Cast: Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg. Plus, Samuel L. Jackson, Dwayne Johnson, Eva Mendes, and Steve Coogan (Hamlet 2 and Night at the Museum 2).

Plot: "Two mismatched New York City detectives (Ferrell and Wahlberg) seize an opportunity to step up like the city's top cops (Jackson and Johnson) whom they idolize -- only things don't quite go as planned."

Verdict: Mark Wahlberg is super hot. I, in real life, draw the line at the age of 28, but he's the only actor I'll be crushing on all the way into his 50s. However, I wouldn't say he was funny. I think he was snarky and sardonic and a ballbuster in The Departed, but that doesn't mean he should do comedies. In Date Night, he's basically eye candy. Seriously, he makes a big deal about not putting his shirt on. But he doesn't make any jokes. I think there's a reason why Mr. Wahlberg has spent the majority of his career playing "the straight man"—always around funny characters (The Italian Job and I Heart Huckabees), but never actually cracking any jokes. The reason is: hot people aren't funny. And they can't be funny after 20 years of not being funny. That would be like Jamie Kennedy getting a six pack (or dating Jennifer Love Hewitt). So, so, so weird. Wahlberg's ballet dancing and peacock request were ridiculous, not funny. The audience I saw the trailer with found Ferrell's bad-cop-bad-cop idea to be the most amusing scene. From that reception, I have a feeling that Ferrell will be carrying most of the film, and Wahlberg will be getting a Razzie nomination.
