MUSIC: Janelle Monae feat. Big Boi "Tightrope"

In February, 24-year-old indie pop and soul singer Janelle Monae released the first single off her new album The ArchAndroid, set to hit iTunes next Tuesday. You might of already heard of her and haven't realized it. She won a Grammy for her song "Many Moons."

Her latest single "Tightrope" features rapper Big Boi, and has a body-rocking, big-band, catchy soul-filled beat. I've been hooked on it for weeks. I could karaoke the hell out of that thing.

Super cool (possibly) little-known fact: She has a deep appreciation for the 1927 German expressionist film Metropolis, which is reflected in her tribute to the artistry behind the low-budget, low-tech sci-fi film worshipped by many a film student on her album cover.
