TRAILER: Emma Roberts & Freddy Highmore's "The Art of Getting By"

PLOT: George (Highmore), a lonely and fatalistic teen who's made it all the way to his senior year without ever having done a real day of work, is befriended by Sally (Roberts), a popular but complicated girl who recognizes in him a kindred spirit.

CAST: Freddie Highmore, Emma Roberts, Michael Angarano (Sky High and The Forbidden Kingdom), Elisabeth Reaser (Twilight), Alicia Silverstone, Blair Underwood, Rita Wilson, Sam Robards ("Gossip Girl")

VERDICT: Highmore has grown up, hasn't he? At 19, he's at that crucial point in his career where he has to define who he is as an actor. It would seem that he's going down the character-actor path, and doing so very well. This lost soul is a perfect fit for him as a quiet actor who says more without saying much. Angarano, on the other hand, is transitioning to a young adult actor at 23, graduating from all of those teen roles no one's ever seen. Seriously, he's one of the most criminally ignored young actors in Hollywood. As for the storyline, this is one of those films where you sign up for the character not the plot. And because I'm not sure why this kid is the way he is and there's no urgency to it, I think I'll see it on DVD.

Release Date: June 17
