Whenever a series is cancelled, I hear that Queen song "Another One Bites the Dust" running through my mind. NBC showed mercy on humanity by not renewing its fledgling comedy "Animal Practice." I know. Shocking news!! A series that was basically "House" meets "Dr. Doolittle" didn't make it. Go figure. But let's look on the bright side: Now Joanna Garcia-Shiffer...Swiffer...Swisher! (Jesus!) Anyway, now the lovable Joanna can go back to doing what she does best: making us laugh...or at the very least, reciting lines she shouldn't be ashamed of memorizing.
Here are some casting roles I'd love to see her in:
…Leonard's love interest on CBS's "Big Bang Theory." Here me out Peonard shippers: Penny is so unbelievably underwhelmed by Leonard that his genius and adoration are completely wasted on her. She treats him like a placeholder for someone who's "bound" to come along. Joanna could be the wake up call that Penny needs, cause let's be honest, Raj's sister was always just a novelty.
…a queen on HBO's "Game of Thrones." I'm sure there's another one on the horizon.
…a new love interest for Jim on HBO's "The Newsroom," so that he can finally be appreciated by somebody who isn't a flaky twat.
…an agent, assigned to join Peter's team on USA's "White Collar," who happens to not be easily charmed by Neal's advances, and has some thieving secrets of her own.
…a cop that forces Wes on USA's "Common Law" to come to terms with his feelings for his ex when he starts having feelings for her.
…George Tucker's first serious post-Lemon love interest on CW's "Hart of Dixie," forcing Zoe to reconsider her demand for him to sow his wild oats.
...as a guest star on "Up All Night," "Guys with Kids," and "Suburgatory" as a love interest for the single dads.
While I don't know if Joanna will score a new series, existing or brand new, you can see her in Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson's buddy comedy The Internship next summer.
