TV: Prison Break returns
Dedicated viewers of Prison Break must've been wondering how they planned on holding up the title's implications if Michael and Lincoln finally escaped from jail at the end of last season. Well, as luck would have it, even though Lincoln has been acquitted of all of the charges brought up against him, Michael is still in trouble for releasing dangerous and guilty convicts, and for other crimes I can't recall that he committed in Panama. Now, the tables have turned--as the press is saying--and Lincoln has to break Michael out slash get him to a safer facility. Of course, we all know that Lincoln is more like the muscle of this operation. So when a sketchy organization kidnaps L.J. and Sarah, it's only natural that Lincoln simply tells Michael what they want and then stands there waiting for instructions. Since Michael's escapes haven't exactly been low-key, every single criminal on this planet is apparently aware that if they need someone broken out of prison, all you have to do is "persuade" a Scofield. Who they want released is still a mystery? All we know after the first episode is that he's been locked in a makeshift solitaire and he's made a deal with ex-prison guard Bellick to use him as a messenger in return for food. All of which makes Bellick an asset. But how will Michael use the rest of his fellow familiar prisoners?
At his disposal, he has sleazy T-Bag and drug addicted Agent Mahone. Being the ass-kissing bottom feeder that he is, T-Bag has latched himself onto the prison's law enforcer--which is a euphemism for the guy who killed people and metaphorically built his throne on their corpses--so that he has protection and a smooth stay. Unfortunately, despite Michael's many illegal acts, he still believes he's better than all of them, which means he doesn't make friends easily. Fearing that the prisoners would begin to worship the prison-breaker, the law enforcer sets up a fight that would've surely gotten Michael killed, but Mahone saves him. Let's not get mushy here, he only did it so Michael would get him out of there. Funny thing is, no matter how pathetic he begins to look, Michael simply has no pity for the man who murdered his father. Nonetheless, Michael has a week to break the mystery man out.
My prediction for the season is that all of them (T-Bag, Mahone, and Bellick) will some how escape with Michael. T-Bag because he never misses an opportunity to slither back into society. Mahone because I have a feeling "the company" that owned him before isn't done with him just yet and that after saving Michael a couple more times, he might have some mercy. And Bellick because he hid Mari Cruz from Sucre, and if I know Sucre like I know Lincoln, he'll probably just beg Michael to get Bellick out in order to save his girl, who most certainly has less than a week to live if she's really locked up somewhere. Speaking of imprisoned love interests, I don't think Sara is with LJ. They keep showing the back of her head, which is very odd.
Either way this season probably won't be as exhilarating as the 1st, but who knows what twists lie around the corner.
*Look for a K-Ville review tomorrow afternoon after I catch the encore tonight on Fox.
