First Sunday
When I first saw the trailer for this ridiculous comedy, I could not stop laughing at Katt Williams, who you may have seen in Norbit...or maybe not. Despite the fact that he was the funniest person in the trailer, the main characters are played by Ice Cube and Tracy Morgan ("30 Rock"). They play best friends who get arrested after they fail to successfully commit a robbery. Cube needs to acquire $17,000 to pay his ex-wife's lease or she'll have to move away with his son. So dumb and dumber decide that the best plan of action is to rob a church. However, someone already robbed it, so... Also in the cast are: Chi McBride ("Pushing Daisies"), Loretta Devine (This Christmas), and Regina Hall (King's Ransom).
In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale
Yet another video game hits the big screen--this time taking Jason Statham's career hostage in his first "period piece." The film is about a guy (Statham) who's determined to rescue his wife from the Krugs, a race of animal-warriors, after his son is killed. The Krugs are controlled by an evil man known as Gallian (Ray Liotta), who has poisoned the king and plans to use his army to take over the kingdom. Also starring: Burt Reynolds, Leelee Sobieski, Ron Perlman (Hellboy), Claire Forlani, Kristanna Loken (Terminator 3), Brian J. White ("Moonlight"), and Matthew Lillard (Without a Paddle).
The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: A VeggieTales Movie
Um, apparently there's a kids' show called "Veggie Tales" and this would be its movie counterpart. The movie is about a bunch of vegetables who work at a dinner theater restaurant and wish they were pirates. Suddenly, they are taken back in time and plunged into the 17th-century alongside real pirates. While there, they try to save a royal family and learn how to be authentic pirates in the process. *clears throat* No comment.
