Book 2 FILM: "Twilight" + "The Stolen Child"

A couple of weeks ago I saw Whoopi Goldberg and Emily Osment ("Hannah Montana" sidekick) gushing about Stephenie Meyer's book Twilight on "The View." Then I met a college sophomore who was just as mesmerized by the teen novel as they were. It's about a teenage girl named Bella who pulls a Buffy and falls in love with a vampire. The twist is she gets peer pressured by his clan to join the undead. Since it's such a big hit, it's already been optioned and cast. Harry Potter fans will be pleased to learn that Robert Pattinson (Cedric Diggory) will be the lead male who accidentally seduces Kristen Stewart (The Messengers) with his mysterious persona and then tries to keep her at a distance. Nikki Reed (Thirteen), Ashley Greene ("Desire"), and Kellan Lutz ("The Comeback") will play members of his family. Also cast are Peter Facinelli ("Fast Lane"), Elizabeth Reaser ("Grey's Anatomy"), Jackson Rathbone ("Beautiful People"), and Rachel Lefevre ("What About Brian") have been cast. As long as it isn't as cheesy as the mystical Covenant, it might have a shot. It's slated for a late 2008 release, perhaps around Halloween. Till then you might want to pick up the book that's about to be a cult classic.

Keith Donahue's The Stolen Child, about "a man who was kidnapped by hobgoblins as a boy and replaced by a look-alike imposter," will follow both versions of the man as they try to maneuver through their new environments. It should make for an interesting story.
