I get that Ashton Kutcher likes 'em...old, but I find it kind of hard to picture him and 38-year-old Anne Heche falling in love in his next romantic comedy, Spread, even though he just turned 30. He's a very hyper soul, and she is super mellow, even in "Men in Trees." Brittany Murphy and Cameron Diaz are just as high-spirited as he is, which is why their match-ups in Just Married and What Happens in Vegas... makes sense. But Kutcher is producing this film, so he had a say in the romantic interest lead, which means he must think she's got what he needs to make it a hit. The plot is that he'll play a womanizer and she'll be the lover who gets revenge. Expect a lot of slapstick.
Paul Dano (There Will Be Blood) will executive produce and star alongside Zooey Deschanel (Failure to Launch) in the indie romantic comedy Gigantic. He'll play a depressed mattress salesman who's obsessed with adopting a Chinese baby until he falls for a chick named Happy. Some part of me wishes he'd get the baby just so I could see what happens next.
