Hollywood seems to be 3D-happy lately. This week studios have agreed to erect 10,000 more theater screens in the U.S. and Canada to make them 3-D compatible. Missy Elliot released a 3D music video for "Ching a Ling," then Disney announced a 3D sequel to Step Up. And now Brendan Fraser will be starring in Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D, where he plays a scientist who's searching for his missing brother with his nephew (Josh Hutcherson from The Bridge to Terabithia) and ends up in the center of the earth where there's a lost world with dinosaurs and volcanoes. It should be a great adventure kids everywhere.
Next on Nicholas Cage's roster is a sci-fi thriller with Rose Byrne ("Damages") called Knowing. "Byrne will play the daughter of a woman who buried a 1962 time capsule bearing the dates of the assassinations of historical figures, the hotel fire death of the wife of a professor (Cage) and an imminent world apocalypse. After the professor discovers its contents and alerts her, the initially skeptical Byrne begins remembering strange incidents from her childhood." It should make for an interesting story.
