FILM: Ben Barnes as Dorian Gray

Even though The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian didn't debut with triple digit numbers, Ben Barnes, who plays the title character, is still being sought after for roles. He just wrapped up filming the romantic comedy Easy Virtue with Jessica Biel for next year, and of course he'll begin the third Narnia film The Voyage of the Dawn Treader soon for it's May 2010 release. But the most interesting role he's been cast for recently is actually the lead for The Picture of Dorian Gray.

The Oscar Wilde novel is about a young man who wishes to stay handsome and never age. An artist paints his portrait and his wish comes true. With every vice he indulges and every sin he commits, his image ages and becomes hideous, while he stays the same. It proves to make him immortal, since every time someone tries to kill him, they end up dying incidentally. However, the only true manner of ridding the world of a such an unconscionable character is to destroy the painting, so he'll shrivel up to his true form and die.

Oliver Parker (An Ideal Husband and The Importance of Being Earnest) is directing and intends on making it a dark horror story. I don't know about you guys, but I'm at least interested in seeing the trailer.

UPDATE: Colin Firth signed on to star opposite Barnes.
