Iron Man defeated Speed Racer at the box office this weekend, grossing $177 mil so far while its competitor came in at #2 with a truly disappointing $20.2 mil. What Happens in Vegas followed close behind at #3 with $20 mil. As for the indies, The Fall, took in $80,000 from 9 US theaters and $267,000 overseas, while Redbelt--with its wider release--grossed $1.2 mil at #10.
Made of Honor came in at #4 with $26 mil and Baby Mama at #5 with $40 mil. Forgetting Sarah Marshall finished off the romantic comedy trifecta at #6 with $50 mil. After its third week, Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay reaches $30 mil. The Forbidden Kingdom etches closer out of the top 10 at #8 with $48 mil, while Nim's Island reaches $44 mil at #9.
Next week, Speed Racer will be fighting for its life when Prince Caspian hits theaters full force, and How the Garcia Girls Spent their Summer will be the little indie that could.
