FILM: Clooney wants to join "Men who stare at Goats"

George Clooney hasn't done scifi since Solaris in 2002. He's been busy with dramas and Oscar noms. So what's pulled him back into the fantasy world of science fiction? Jon Ronson's book Men Who Stare at Goats.

Before you start thinking that Clooney is off his rocker, the film isn't about guys who have "special" relationships with farm animals. Clooney will play a member of the U.S. Army's First Earth Battalion, a unit that utilizes paranormal powers as a defense. "The title refers to the notion that one can kill a goat by staring at it." Ronson researched the U.S. Army's involvement in developing "extra-sensory perception and telepathy, which apparently included efforts to kill barnyard animals with nothing more than thought." The people he interviews in the books claim that they have been "reactivated" to go to war in the Middle East.

I'm assuming this going to be a political satire/science fiction movie. Either way, I'm at least interested in seeing the trailer.
