FILM: Friday Night Lights's cast venture into theaters

"Friday Night Lights," has been on the bubble for the least year, and although NBC has brokered a deal with DirectTV that would allow it to air the series' next season in early 2009, the actors are taking precautions and searching for other employment.

If you watch the show, then you know it's 90% drama + 10% humor...and 8% of that humor is produced by the hilarious character Landry (Jesse Plemons). He'll be fine-tuning his comedic chops in the Seth Rogen-produced comedy Observe and Report, alongside Anna Faris, Michael Pena ("Crash"), and Ray Liotta.

Scott Porter
is actually the most busy of the cast lately, having starred in Prom Night and the upcoming Speed Racer as big brother Rex. Next year, he'll have a small part in the musical teen dramedy Will that also stars Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical).

The character that all the ladies drool over, Riggins (Taylor Kitsch) will be playing Gambit in X-Men Origins: Wolverine alongside Hugh Jackman, Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Liev Schrieber as Sabretooth, Dominic Monaghan as Beak, and Kevin Durand ("Lost") as the Blob.

Zach Gilford, who plays the super-awkward Matt Saracen, will be a love interest (?) in the comedy The Post Grad Survival Guide, about a girl (Alexis Bledel) who has to move back home to figure out her life plan. [Side note: Since when was Bledel funny enough to star in her own comedy?]

Gaius Charles
, who plays the smack-talking Smash, will star in his first feature film, a drama called Toe to Toe.

Aimee Teegarden, the ever-annoying Julie, is going the B-film route with the horror thriller For Sale by Owner, which also stars Skeet Ulrich ("Jericho"), and the adventure family film Call of the Wild.

Adrianne Palicki, the feisty Tyra, will appear in the horror thriller Legion, which is about a biblical apocalypse. The film is sort of star-studded, bearing a cast of Dennis Quaid, Paul Bettany (The Da Vinci Code), Kate Walsh ("Private Practice"), Lucas Black (Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift), Tyrese Gibson (Transformers), and Willa Holland ("The O.C.").

Connie Britton, Kyle Chandler, and Minka Kelly have nothing in the works as of yet. Although Kelly was busy being John Mayer's girlfriend for a split second.
