FILM: Kid Cannabis

Although I have a steady grudge against Cam Gigandet (Never Back Down) for playing a character who destroyed "The O.C." by accidentally killing Marissa, it seems Hollywood doesn't share my disgust. MTV audiences took notice of his performance when they bestowed upon him and his co-star the Best Fight award, and they are about to get their fill of him in the next year.

Not only is he set to appear in one of the most anticipated films of the year, Twilight, as the bad guy, but he's about to start shooting Pinkville, an Oliver Stone war drama with Bruce Willis and Channing Tatum. What better way to capitalize on these 15 minutes of fame than to partake in a sort of right of passage. I've already ranted about the sudden increase in pot-related films in the last two years, but it seems like the one he's recently signed up for with Chris Marquette (Just Friends) and Aaron Yoo (21) is a tad anti-Mary Jane.

Kid Cannabis is the true story of "two Idaho suburbanites who built a multimillion-dollar marijuana ring," and get their buzzes interrupted by the FBI, kind of like Alpha Dog. John Stockwell (Blue Crush and Rockstar) is writing and directing.
