He's fascinated by swords (by which I mean sewing needles), he dares to take on cats, and bravely snatches cheese from traps. To his fellow mice clan's dismay, he does not fear anything--as it is in his nature to do--and endeavors to even befriend, not only a rat--who are apparently taboo--but a human. The story, adapted from Kate DiCamillo's book, centers on these two rodents and a servant girl whose fates are linked to a princess. Directing are Gary Ross (Seabiscuit) and Sam Fell (Flushed Away). Matthew Broderick will voice Despereaux, Emma Watson (Harry Potter) will be the princess, and Sigourney Weaver will act as the narrator. Other characters will be voiced by Dustin Hoffman, Christopher Lloyd, Kevin Kline, William H. Macy, Stanley Tucci (Devil Wears Prada), and Tracey Ullman. Watch the trailer:

TRAILER: The Tale of Despereaux
If you loved Ratatouille--which I saw this week and thought was pretty damn good--then you will love The Tale of Despereaux. It's another story about a fearless mouse who acts human and dares to integrate with them. The main differences between these two furry tough guys are 1) Despereaux has big ass Dumbo ears 2) Remy could not be understood by humans, while Despereaux can, and 3) Remy is an amazing chef, while Despereaux is an aspiring knight. Well sort of.
