TRAILER: Mark Wahlberg in "Max Payne"

Mark Walhberg's attempt to begin a Jason Bourne-type franchise with the video game adaptation Max Payne is finally on its way to theaters October 17th. Wahlberg plays a DEA agent whose family is murdered by a bunch of junkies high on Valkyr, a drug that causes violent tendencies. The film takes place three years later when he's investigating the mafia family that traffics the drug. Someone frames him for the murder of his cop friend, so he has to team up with an assassin (Mila Kunis from Forgetting Sarah Marshall), who is seeking revenge because of her sister's death, to evade the police, the mob, and a ruthless corporation.

Also starring are Beau Bridges, Ludacris, Donal Logue ("Grounded for Life"), Chris O'Donnell, Amaury Nolasco ("Prison Break"), and singer Nelly Furtado. John Moore (The Omen & Behind the Enemy Lines) is directing and Shawn Ryan ("The Shield" and "Angel") wrote the screenplay.

It's looks pretty cool action-wise--even though Mila looks kind of like Kate Beckinsale in Underworld--but I'm mostly interested in the angels that are shown. Most forums are saying that it's a part of a dream sequence. Here's hoping there's more to it than that.
