Garret Dillahunt, who plays a bad machine, will become a season regular and Leven Rambin ("All My Children") joins the show as John's love interest, who is said to be "intrigued by him." Probably because he's an adorable loner.
Unfortunately, the creator says that a lot of his innocence dies this season, making way for the darker John of the future. I don't think they mean he'll be losing his virginity, although I wouldn't rule it out. Apparently, the theme of the season is evolution.
