Jeff Kinney's bestselling kids' book Diary of a Wimpy Kid has been adapted into a hilarious family film that won't bore parents to tears. I haven't read the book, but the film seems to portray middle school exactly as I remember it: a bizarre mixture of age groups that make it seem like toddlers are going to school with giants, popularity segregation, big brotherly hazing (even though I'm a girl), and a definite feeling that it is indeed an "intellectual wasteland," where the funniest thing the boys could come up with was imitating the Budweiser frogs. Zachary Gordon (The Brothers Bloom) stars, alongside Rachael Harris (The Hangover), Steve Zahn, and Chloe Moretz (Kick-Ass).
