TRAILER: Steve Carrell & Paul Rudd's "Dinner for Schmucks"

Director: Jay Roach (Meet the Fockers and Austin Powers in Goldmember)

Writers: Andy Borowitz (the original film and "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air") and Ken Daurio (the unfunny College Road Trip and The Santa Clause 2, and the enjoyable Horton Hears a Who! and Bubble Boy)

Cast: Steve Carrell, Paul Rudd, and French newcomer Stephanie Szostak. Plus, comedians Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover) and Jemaine Clement ("Flight of the Conchords").

Plot: "Tim (Rudd) is a rising executive who "succeeds" in finding the perfect guest, IRS employee Barry (Carell), for his boss's monthly event, a so-called "dinner for idiots," which offers certain advantages to the exec who shows up with the biggest buffoon."

Release Date: July 23

Verdict: It looks pretty funny, somewhere between I Love You, Man and Forgetting Sarah Marshall. I don't know how I feel about Carrell's doofy veneers that make him look kind of like Steeve Coogan, Mr. Bean, and Tony Shalhoub's alien character in Men in Black put in a blender. I'm just interested in seeing these two riff off each other, since they've never really starred in anything together.
