Plot: "A rail company frantically works to prevent an unmanned, half-mile-long freight train carrying combustible liquids and poisonous gas from wiping out a city."
Cast: Denzel Washington, Chris Pine, and Rosario Dawson.
Verdict: Even though this disaster film seems rather predictable and we've already seen Washington in a disastrous train-related disaster film (The Taking of Pelham 123), directed by the same guy Tony Scott, I like the partnering of the veteran heroic figure and the newbie Pine, who's going for more of a reluctant everyman hero this time around. True, Pine kind of did that in Star Trek, but he's less of a douche here and just more of a realistic order-following employee. So I think it'll be interesting to see how the two play off of each other throughout the film. Besides, who doesn't want to see "Speed on a train"?
