Plot: A drama centered on a rising country-music songwriter (Hedlund) who sparks with a fallen star (Paltrow). Together, they mount his ascent and her comeback, which leads to romantic complications involving her husband/manager (McGraw) and a beauty queen-turned-singer (Meester).

Verdict: I was pretty lukewarm on it until I saw Gwyneth confidently shutdown the enterprising tartlet that tried to steal her comeback single and spotlight: "That's how it's done sweetheart." Regardless, I'll catch it on cable. But if Hedlund manages to garner a female-following after his big debut in this winter's Tron: Legacy—the supposed Avatar of the year—then it could possibly break even.
