FILM: Box Office Results - 4/4/08

21 managed to hold onto the top spot, reaching $46.5 mil over the weekend. Leatherheads came in at #2 with $13.5 mil, and Nim's Island followed close behind at #3 with $13.3 mil. Against all logical odds, horror flick The Ruins came in at#5 with $7.8 mil. Indie Meet Bill only managed to gross close to $40,000 in 36 theaters. Nora Jones' debut My Blueberry Nights faired much better, grossing $73,000 in just 6 theaters and $14 mil overseas. And Martin Scorsese's Rolling Stones tribute Shine a Light grossed $1.5 mil in 276 theaters.

Last week's releases, Superhero Movie dropped to #6 and has only amassed $16.8 mil. Critic favorite, Stop-Loss, exited the top 10 with $8 mil. 10,000 B.C. is on the verge of exiting the top 10 after 5 weeks with $89 mil. America Ferrara's indie Under the Same Moon actually jumped up two spots to #12, grossing close to $9 mil.

As for the rest of the top 10:
4. Horton Hears a Who: $131 mil
7. Meet the Browns: $38 mil
8. Drillbit Taylor: $26 mil
9. Shutter: $23 mil

Next week, the Keanu Reeves thriller Street Kings hits theaters, Ellen Page's Smart People graces us with its presence, Prom Night joins that other crappy horror flick, and the indie Chaos Theory showcases a scatterbrained Ryan Reynolds.
