FILM: Bringing back the 80s: Goonies & Short Circuit

I love the Goonies, mainly because I love treasure hunt movies. But I can't quite decide if I would love a semi-Goonies remake. The movie, The Treehouse Gang, will focus on a group of six friends who decide to go on one last treasure hunt after meeting up at their 10-year high school reunion. Of course there are a few loose ends they failed to tie up when they graduated, so drama and embarrassment will occur. Depending on the cast, it could make for a fun story, but I doubt it'll be as good as The Goonies.

With the June release of Disney/Pixar's animated robot adventure Wall-E, it's no wonder that Dimension Films has pounced on remaking the 1986 film Short Circuit, which is basically the live action version of Wall-E. Both have kooky robots at the center of their stories with amazing abilities and adorable personalities. Short Circuit's robot is named Number 5 and after he was hit by lightning, his days as a sophisticated military weapon went down the tube. He developed a personality and refused to promote war, so he spends most of the movie trying not get shoved into a compactor by his creators. Watch the trailer for a little refresher course. I actually prefer Short Circuit 2.
