After a failed attempt at a film career, Wilmer Valderrama is returning to TV with the FOX series "The Emancipation of Ernesto."
The producers are describing it as a cross between The Jerk and Being There, because "he's sort of an innocent dolt who is thrust into the world on a quest. He is looking for his father and the love of his life, and searches Los Angeles, unprepared and oblivious to the realities and issues in modern L.A. Somehow, things always work out for Ernesto." Not quite sure if Valderrama will be able to pull it off, but it'll be entertaining to see him try.
He still hasn't quite given up on film though. He's just wrapped the drama Days of Wrath, which also stars Ricardo Chavira (Carlos from "Desperate Housewives"), Laurence Fishburne, Jeffrey Dean Morgan ("Grey's Anatomy"), and Taye Diggs ("Private Practice"). And he's about to start filming the film adaptation of the 70s TV show "CHiPs," playing Erik Estrada's role of Ponch, which is set for next year.
