TV: Death on "Lipstick Jungle"
Rosie Perez, the Brooklyn-native who had a breakthrough role in the 90s classic White Men Can't Jump, will be guest starring on NBC's "Lipstick Jungle" this fall. But where she goes in the episode is more interesting than what she does. She was photographed in all black, filming a funeral...
[SPOILER ALERT]
...A funeral being held for Nico's (Kim Raver) husband, who was referred to as her "ex-husband." To jog your memory, Nico is the editor-in-chief of a major magazine with a college professor for a husband--a professor that used to be her teacher. They were married for so long that the spark had fizzled from their marriage, and she started to look elsewhere for a little affection. She caught the eye of a photographer's assistant named Kirby (Robert Buckley), who is at least 10 years younger than she is. One night, during one of their booty-calls, she received a call from the hospital saying that her husband had a heart attack. She immediately felt guilty for not being there when he collapsed, especially since he called her first when it happened and she ignored his call. During one of her visits to the hospital, she ran into one of his students, who she thought had a crush on him. But, upon seeing how attentive and distraught the girl was, she realized they were having an affair. Instead of using that as a prime opportunity to ditch her old fogie for the new model, she broke off her affair with Kirby and made a point to be more accessible to her husband, since she's such a workaholic and Wendy (Brooke Shields) made her feel guilty for being an adulterer.
But since he was referred to as her "ex-husband," did he find out about her affair or did she dump him because of his? Or did they agree that they were more like best friends than lovers? Will she try to get Kirby back? Will Wendy approve? Will Kirby even be interested after she broke his heart?
Hmmm, can't wait for the new season!!
UPDATE: The show has officially been cancelled.
